I have the opportunity to receive an Acer Aspire 3003 LCI lap top at no cost to me. However, I'm not too familiar with this brand outside of it being known for modems and was wondering if anyone's had any experience with the brand in regards to lap tops or the specific model. I believe that my Toshiba is on it's last legs and I don't expect it too last much longer. From what I've read, the Acer 3003 is more of a value type of lap topwhich I suppose is fine with me, but my concern is that there will be some sort of conflict with the machine and Jaws. I am a heavy lap top user and have to travel quite a bit with it due to work.
I would appreciate any input or resource anyone can provide me with.
Thanks,
Cristobal
quote, I have the opportunity to receive an Acer Aspire 3003 LCI lap top at no cost to me. Hell, go for it. i wouldn't mind some free stuff. lol. I use an acer tm290 with jaws and love it. it all depends on the chipset model as far as screenreading software is concerned, acer's usually been fairly good in that department as far as i know
Good day to you all. I have worked with a variety of laptops with screen readers and These days haven't found any issues to wory about. You shouldn't have any problem.
I have no experience with Acer and Jaws but my family and friends have stuck with Acer laptops now for 4 years without any breaking or complaints. My friend who is quite a computer junkee, went through days of on-line research to decide what the perfect laptop to invest in would be (for $2000) and came up with the Acer TravelMate 8104 which he bought back in the summer and is very happy with it.
I'd recommend Acer strongly and given any laptop currently I'd got for an Acer one (at lesat nothaving tried the Macs).

I went ahead and accepted the offer of the lap top. It comes with just 256 of ram, but I can upgrade that easily enough. thanks for all the input.
Ijust got a 256mb ddr2 sd ram of Buy.com for $32, that's how cheap it is so upgrading is not a problem I would imagine, I recommend upgrading to 512mb or greater, with 512 there's a huge difference.
cheers
